Será el jueves 12 de abril a las 9 en el Parque Astronómico La Punta (PALP). La iniciativa es llevada adelante por la Universidad de La Punta (ULP) junto a la Asociación Argentina de Tecnología Espacial (AATE) como parte del festejo por el quinto aniversario del planetario fijo y el observatorio del PALP.
Con el objetivo de apoyar el desarrollo científico y tecnológico, la Universidad de La Punta (ULP) lanzará por segundo año consecutivo una sonda a la estratósfera junto a la AATE. La experiencia tendrá lugar el jueves 12 de abril a las 9, en el marco del festejo por el 5° aniversario del planetario fijo y el observatorio del PALP. Se espera contar con las condiciones climáticas adecuadas para concretar la iniciativa.
La propuesta implicará el lanzamiento de globos especiales inflados con helio, los cuales serán soltados del vehículo en forma remota cuando deje la atmósfera terrestre. A lo largo de su viaje, y cuyo objetivo es ascender 30 kilómetros hasta la estratósfera, tres cámaras de alta definición capturarán desde distintos ángulos diferentes imágenes del vuelo. También, se podrá observar el territorio argentino desde el espacio, la curvatura del planeta y la oscuridad del espacio. El vuelo de Clementina 2 podrá seguirse en vivo a través de http://www.palp.edu.ar/ .
El vuelo durará alrededor de 2 horas y el sitio de aterrizaje de la sonsa está previsto en un radio de entre 50 a 200 kilómetros, es decir, que podrá ocurrir en Córdoba, Mendoza, La Rioja o dentro de San Luis. Para rastrearla, Clementina tendrá tres sistemas de posicionamiento.
Este proyecto desde la ULP está pensado como actividad de divulgación que aliente en los jóvenes, y el público en general, el interés por la ciencia. Se espera la asistencia de 150 alumnos de diferentes escuelas de la provincia. Pablo de León, presidente de la AATE, brindará antes de comenzar una charla informativa a los chicos, para que estos sepan de qué se va a tratar la actividad y cuál es su objetivo final.
En el vuelo de Clementina se utilizará un nuevo sistema de cámaras HD para lograr imágenes de mayor resolución de la superficie terrestre desde el espacio, así como también un nuevo sistema de apertura de paracaídas, seguimiento y localización. Uno de los objetivos principales de este nuevo vuelo es lograr romper el record de altitud logrado el año pasado, que fue de casi 20.000 metros.
La dirección técnica del lanzamiento de la sonda estratosférica estará a cargo de Pablo de León, experto espacial argentino quien además es investigador principal de la NASA y director del laboratorio de trajes espaciales de la Universidad de Noth Dakota, Estados Unidos.
